Great Board helps you think clearly about your board. It does not give legal, tax, financial, or human resources advice, and it does not make decisions for your organization.
1. Educational and planning use only
Great Board provides learning material, worksheets, and planning tools to help nonprofit founders and board members think clearly about board composition and board operations. The material is general in nature. It is not legal, tax, accounting, financial, investment, insurance, or human resources advice, and it does not create a professional or advisory relationship of any kind.
2. No substitute for professional counsel
Board formation, bylaws, fiduciary duty, conflicts of interest, compensation, employment matters, and charitable registration are governed by law that varies by country, state, and organization type. Before acting on anything you plan inside Great Board, consult a qualified attorney, accountant, or other licensed professional who knows your jurisdiction and your organization.
3. You make the decisions
Great Board is built to inform and to help you reflect. It does not decide anything for you. Matrices, scorecards, ratings, cadence plans, and prompts are structured ways to organize your own judgment. Your board and your organization remain solely responsible for every governance decision, recruitment decision, personnel decision, and financial decision you make.
4. AI assistance has limits
The in-app help assistant and concierge use automated language models. Their responses may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and they may misread your intent. Treat AI output as a first draft to review, never as verified fact, legal guidance, or a compliance check. Do not paste sensitive personal, medical, or confidential third-party information into the assistant.
5. Candidate and member information
If you record notes, ratings, or contact details about prospective or current board members, you are the controller of that information. Collect only what you need, tell people what you record about them where the law requires it, keep the notes accurate and respectful, and remove them when they are no longer needed. Do not use Great Board to record protected characteristics or to make decisions that would be unlawful under applicable anti-discrimination law.
6. Community content is member authored
Posts, replies, tips, and board updates in the community hub are written by other members. They are opinions and personal experience, not guidance from Great Board, and we do not verify them. Do not share confidential organizational information, personnel matters, or anything you are not free to disclose. We may remove content that is unlawful, abusive, or reveals private information about others.
7. No outcome guarantees
Using these tools does not guarantee that you will recruit particular members, raise a particular amount, satisfy any regulator, pass an audit, or achieve any specific organizational result. Examples and sample boards in the product, including the sample organization used throughout the example walkthrough, are illustrative and fictional.
8. Availability and third party services
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." Features may change, and access depends on third party providers for hosting, authentication, payment processing, and AI. We are not responsible for interruptions, data loss, or errors caused by those providers, and you should keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose by using the export options in each tool.
9. External links
Where we cite sources or link to outside organizations, we do so for reference. We do not control that content and do not endorse the products, services, or opinions of those organizations.
